I am Kristine Talarski, founder of Connecticut Medicaid Specialists. As a young adult I always knew that I wanted to work in a helping profession. My work with the elderly and geriatric population began over 15 years ago assisting nursing homes with Medicaid applications. My professional background includes over 25 years of experience as a Social Worker. I earned a Masters in Social Work in 2002 from Fordham University. I worked as a social worker in convalescent homes and long-term care settings. I was case manager for community assistance programs such as CCCI the Homecare program for elders. For over five years I assisted clients in applying for state and federal programs including Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security disability benefits. I have extensive background with working directly with clients, families, caregivers, and elder-law attorneys in healthcare settings. In my career I experience first-hand the struggles my clients face. The process of seeking out financial assistance for a loved one’s benefits can be time consuming and stressful. It is a struggle trying to find the right kind of assistance for a loved one as you advocate for the best care possible. As a professional social worker I empathize with clients and families struggling to apply for assistance for their elder loved ones.
While we assist health care facilities, clients and families through a difficult and tedious process, we also understand this time can be emotional and confusing. Our staff works compassionately to ensure the client’s needs are met. We understand the emotional challenges clients and families face during the Medicaid application process. Whether we have been retained by a nursing home, recommended by an elder-law attorney or contacted directly by the family, we approach all cases with the caring and concerns this process requires. All of our staff has direct experience working with the elderly population and realizes the patience and sensitivity this process requires.
